Synopsis:
|
Cisco operates with the understanding that foodservice is
an important aspect of their corporate culture.
In building out the interiors of this building near Dulles
International Airport, they planned for a cafeteria with window views for
the seating area. W&A was
challenged with the design of the functional aspects of the 3908 sq. ft.
for kitchen and service adjacent the dining area. The shape and size of the servery and kitchen
necessitated creative solutions for functional flow.
The final design includes a variety of stations within the servery,
including all of the cooking. The
kitchen is comprised of storage, preparation, and catering support.
Cisco’s extensive free beverage program uses an additional
allotment of storage; and creates a beverage area beyond the cashier
point.
The kitchen is situated with easy access to the
conference room on the same level for catering, without entering the
servery. A coffee bar was
created in the lobby area to be open independently or with the servery,
with server access to the support areas.
This special P.O.S. location also supplements main cashiers at peak
times.
The
equipment budget came to $470,000, including custom millwork cabinetry
with solid surface counters. The
800 employees have access to large vending area which remains open 24
hours a day. |
