Synopsis:
|
Rockwell chose a 62 acre site in western
Fairfax County, in the Westfields Industrial Park, for this secure new
complex. Their master plan calls for 1.2 million square feet of secure
office and high-tech facilities. Foodservice occupies 24,348 ft2.
Foodservice for the 3,300 employees is
provided in a 'food court' setting with six major and five minor stations.
Grill, hot food, salad bar, cold food, and tex-mex stations have some
beverages and accompaniments to their main menus to allow for full meal
selection. The bakery station can be separated from the rest of the servery
to provide breakfast and snack service between major meals; it is located
near the dining area for easy return for beverages, ice cream, and
soft-serve yogurt. An adjacent vending area serves the 24 hour security
force.
Special research and
attention were required for state-of-the-art foodservice systems: solid
waste handling and recycling, automated checkout, and rapid production
methods. The equipment package cost approximately $1.2m |
